Your kitchen is the place where something is likely to cause you some grief at some point. You will either have to deal with a refrigerator that doesn’t keep food cool, a stove that won’t heat up or a toaster that blows a fuse whenever you try to use it. Your kitchen is also a place where you are more likely to suffer a plumbing problem.
The kitchen sink is the center of your kitchen and is used for food preparation and cleanup. When there is a problem with your kitchen sink, you want it fixed as soon as possible. The sooner you call American Drain Co, your drain cleaner in Los Angeles, the sooner your kitchen will be properly functioning again. Here are a few other common kitchen plumbing problems you might have to deal with.
LOOSE GARBAGE DISPOSAL
If your garbage disposal comes loose, it could cause damage to your sink. If you ever hear a rattling sound when the disposal is running, turn it off and check it out. The same is true if you notice a lot of vibrating while your disposal is on.
If you do notice a problem with your disposal, call your plumber right away.
CLOGGED KITCHEN SINK
Your kitchen sink is equipped with a P-trap designed to keep odors and gases out of your kitchen. Material like grease, soap and solids wind up down the drain and settling in the trap. When this happens, water will not drain.
This is easily resolved should you decide to do it yourself. Simply put a bucket under the P-trap and loosen the nuts to take it off and clean it out. It will be gross, just so you know.
If this isn’t the cause of your clogged drain, you may have to call a plumber.
Before pulling the dishwasher out from under the counter, check for the source of the leak. For example, you could have a broken float switch that will cause overflow or a damaged spray arm could leak.
A leaky door gasket can be replaced without having to move the dishwasher. If you cannot find the leak on your own, it’s a good idea to call a plumber.
Some leaky faucets are easily repaired by the homeowner, if that is what they choose. But there are leaky faucets that will require the hand of a professional.
If the leaky faucet requires a new O ring, make sure you turn the water off before disassembling.
LOW WATER PRESSURE
Low pressure in your kitchen sink could be nothing more than a clogged aerator. If this is the case, simply unscrew the tip of the faucet and clean the aerator. If this doesn’t solve the problem, we recommend you call a plumber.
CLOGGED GARBAGE DISPOSAL
Yep, there are things that can cause your garbage disposal to get clogged up. Before you go reaching in there though, make sure you unplug it for obvious reasons.
If that doesn’t fix the problem, call American Drain Co.
